Mengejar US$

Baru saja membaca blog teman gw, ternyata dia akan bekerja keluar negeri karena mendapatkan tawaran kontrak kerja menggiurkan. Dia akan mengambil tawaran US$ menarik tersebut disaat istrinya sedang hamil 7 bulan (28 minggu). Wowww...

Sedangkan salah seorang teman gw yang lain, wanita, tinggal sendiri saja di Jakarta untuk bekerja. Suaminya sedang bekerja menjadi kontraktor telekomunikasi mengejar US$ di Arab Saudi. Anaknya yang masih berumur sekitar 2 tahun diasuh bersama neneknya di kota lain. Wowww...

Teman dari salah satu rekan gw, ketika tiba dirumahnya kembali dari mengejar US$ di salah satu negara timur tengah, disambut anaknya yang berumur 2 tahun saat dibukakan pagar, "Om, mau cari siapa?" Wowww...

Tapi memang dalam hidup ini tiap manusia dihadapkan pada pilihan dan harus menentukan pilihan dengan berbagai konsekwensinya, plus minusnya, pros dan cons. Saya pun tergiur dengan tawaran yang umumnya berkisar US$ 5,000 - US$ 9,000/bulan, atau US$ 200 - US$ 500 /hari, tergantung experience dan negosiasi ini. Tapi ada konsekwensi yang tidak sanggup gw penuhi, yaitu meninggalkan keluarga, hehehe. Jadi, mau tidak mau, gw mencari kesempatan untuk kesempatan permanent employee diluar negeri, bukan kontrak. Karena umumnya dalam klausul permanent employee, ada kesempatan dan benefit bagi istri dan anak-anak. Tentu saja uang yang didapat dan kesempatan yang ada lebih sedikit dibandingkan dengan sistem kontrak kerja.

Memang kondisi Indonesia belum membaik. Kesempatan kerja dan kesempatan mendapatkan penghasilan yang lebih baik juga belum terbuka lebar, termasuk di sektor telekomunikasi. Jadi gw berusaha untuk selalu bersyukur dan menjalani saja apa adanya.

Spending More Time with My Family

It's been 3 days I don't go to work because of typhus and throat infection. This is the first time I get typhus and I still don't know how it is possible. Many people said that it might be caused by bad food hygiene, especially during lunch time in the area near to my office. Some other people said that it might be caused by too hard working and the current body health condition is not good. But I believe the 2nd opinion might be correct because some of my colleagues who had involved in the same project are also sick.

Wow... How big and difficult is the project then? Well... Actually this is one of the biggest projects ever done, but sorry, I can't tell you. The project had been implemented successfully, the target was achieved, and it meant that all engineers had done and finished their job well. This is the Project Manager (PM) task to close the project and get the money. If the project can't be closed with any reason, who will be blamed? :)

However, I have more time to spend with my family at home. Having enough time to spend with the family is very difficult for most people who live in Jakarta. I don't want to discuss it, everybody already knows that. My daughter is grown up and she's already 14 months old. Her name is Kireina, we call her Reina. She has been able to walk since 12 months old and now already run everywhere in our house. She really likes watching her favorite movie in the DVD player, Barney. During watching Barney, she is very calm and enjoy watching it. Otherwise, runs everywhere and never get tired.
